Matri Mandir is situated on the hillocks of Shillong. The temple is basically dedicated to Goddess Kali and is also known as Ramna Kalibari or Matri Mandir. Legend has it the temple is believed to be as old as 1000 years. There is also a belief that it is positioned on the outskirts of Dhaka. This beautiful and giant ancient temple has a very unique architecture with magnificent artistic carvings on the walls. Late at night, a grand puja is organized in the honor of Goddess Kali.
