Onam is the official state festival of Kerala, celebrated by Malayalis worldwide regardless of religion. It commemorates the annual homecoming of the benevolent King Mahabali, during whose reign Kerala witnessed its golden era.

- Pookkalam: Intricate floral rangolis created in front of houses to welcome the King.
- Onasadya: A grand vegetarian feast served on banana leaves, consisting of over 20 dishes.
- Vallam Kali: The famous snake boat races held on the Pampa river.
